Digitizing Local Government Revenue with MavRev
Local governments across Ghana depend on Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to provide essential services. Yet for many assemblies, the methods of collecting and managing this revenue were outdated and inefficient. Paper receipts, handwritten ledgers, and disconnected systems made it difficult to track funds, leading to leakage, delayed reconciliation, and limited visibility for decision-makers.
Maven Dynamics was brought in to change that. We designed and deployed MavRev, a digital revenue management system built specifically for the realities of local governance.
With MavRev, assemblies gained access to mobile point-of-sale tools, real-time dashboards, and automated reconciliation features. Revenue officers could issue digital receipts on the spot, while finance teams tracked collections across districts in real time. Administrators now had clear reporting tools, audit trails, and secure access to data. The platform was also designed to align with GRA’s tax framework, enabling future integration at the national level.
Within months of going live, districts began reporting stronger oversight, faster reconciliation, and a noticeable drop in revenue loss. Field collectors adapted quickly, and senior officials used the platform to make better-informed decisions.
